The Causes Of Low Self Esteem And How They've Put You In A Trance

What are the causes of low self esteem?...

Well, that's pretty simple isn't it? Your level of self esteem is determined by what you think about yourself -- so, it's your thoughts, or beliefs that are the real cause of low self esteem...

...And they've got you walking around in a trance too.

Think that sounds crazy? Listen up...

...People perceive themselves and their world according to what they've decided about the things they've been told, and experienced.

True or not, doesn't matter. Just as a hypnotist can make someone believe that the sky is orange, negative childhood experiences can cause someone to grow up thinking that they are inferior. For all practical purposes...

...If you have low self esteem, you've been hypnotized.

Maybe you were overweight or skinny -- a slow learner -- taller or shorter than average -- were bullied, or picked on -- "handicapped" in some way, or perhaps your nose might be shaped a little differently. Maybe you were abused or neglected.

All of these things, and a gazillion more are potential causes of low self esteem. It's the stuff that influences how we think and feel about ourselves, creating our personal belief system. And, it comes from all directions...

...From our family, teachers, TV, the internet, magazines, the media's portrayal of the ideal body image, and the things we hear from our peers -- they tell us what to believe about ourselves, and we believe them.

World renowned author of "The Four Agreements", Don Miguel Ruiz says...

Almost everything in this world of illusion is a lie. That is why I ask my apprentices to follow three rules for seeing what is true. The first rule is -- Don't believe me. Rule number two is more difficult -- Don't believe yourself. Rule number three is -- Don't believe anyone else."

Here is a short video in which Don Miguel Ruiz discusses beliefs...

Some self esteem authorities claim that self esteem levels fluctuate throughout life. I say no, they don't. We may feel better or worse about ourselves as our external situations change, but low self esteem always comes from the same old beliefs we've always had.

We Perceive What We Believe

If you don't believe you are good enough, then you'll never see that you are. Not only that, but your beliefs will dictate your choices and actions, which through "cause and effect" will then create false circumstantial evidence that your beliefs are correct. This is part of how the Cosmic Law of Attraction works.

It is why the reality you are currently experiencing- you as somehow inferior- only appears to be real. I have news for you - if you have low self esteem, it isn't.

When we believe that we aren't smart enough, young enough, pretty enough, skilled enough, etc., we are afraid to try for the things we really want. We settle for less, in exchange for security. These fear based actions continually reinforce our low self esteem because they uphold the false world we believe to be real. Here are some examples...

Causes Of Low Self Esteem In Adults

  • Remaining in unfulfilling jobs
  • Settling for second best
  • Putting yourself last
  • Not pursuing your desires
  • Blaming others for your negative experiences
  • Not taking responsibility for yourself

One of my friends, who, at 25 was still dependent on his parents, was overwhelmed by a feelings of low self esteem, helplessness, and hopelessness. We discovered, after a few hours of E.F.T., that his mother had unknowingly instilled a belief in him that he was "special", and would always be dependent, while his father had severely criticized, ridiculed, and blamed him for not being the son he thought he wanted.

...He unfortunately had accepted what amounted to a death sentence in life.

The causes of low self esteem are different for everyone. We all have our own unique experience of life, and ways of interpreting and processing our life experiences.
