I can't think of a better definition of self esteem than knowing yourself. When you do that, you also know what you want and have the confidence to go after it. That is what I call, personal power.
Let's face it, most of us with low self esteem spend way too much time indulging in self pity.
What is it that we are thinking that makes us feel so sorry for ourselves?...
We feel sorry for ourselves because we don't know who we really are. After all, how can we esteem that which we do not know?
We think we are victims of everything from genetics to the media. We don't know our own power. Because of that, we never claim it -- we willingly give it away. We leave our lives up to chance. We don't take personal responsibility and manifest our dreams.
According to many religious teachings, we are "made in the image of God".

I like this, and how it relates to the definition of self esteem. It fits my inner knowingness, and...
...I like to think of what it means for us as human beings.
What or who is "God"? What are some of the characteristics of God?...
...Creative, loving, most powerful, unlimited, all knowing, immortal, magical and joyful are what I immediately think of. What a great definition of self esteem.
Teachers of ancient Toltec wisdom describe God as being pure "Intent" driven by love. The Toltec path has been called "the path of the heart" because they know that our true path in life is doing what we love most. Our life purpose is to discover and be ourselves...
...To be creative, loving, joyful, powerful, all knowing, magical and immortal because of our unlimited connection to that which Is all those things and more.
As human beings, this is our birthright, and our personal power, but fear prevents us....
...We don't trust in our Source within. We don't trust Life to support us. We don't allow our possibilities. Why?...
...Because we focus on the illusion, not the reality...
...We focus on what we don't like about our looks, our fears, and what we think we lack..
...And, through the Cosmic Law of Attraction, we attract even more of those negative things. We are like young birds who cling to the nest, fearing they will fall -- not knowing they can fly. Keep in mind...
...That some of the greatest people the world has ever known have overcome some of the greatest "handicaps" and difficulties.

"For me the world is weird because it is stupendous, awesome, mysterious, unfathomable; my interest has been to convince you that you must assume responsibility for being here, in this marvelous world, in this marvelous desert, in this marvelous time. I want to convince you that you must learn to make every act count since you are going to be here for only a short while, in fact, too short for witnessing all the marvels of it."
