Twenty Low Self Esteem Signs In Children --
Free Self Esteem Activities, Worksheets,
And More...

My parents didn't know a thing about low self esteem signs in children. They just thought I was a bad kid. I remember my mother shouting at me, "Why can't you be good?!!".

I don't think I ever heard the term, "self esteem" -- at least not until I was in high school. And even then, no connection was made between low self esteem, and what I was going through.

I'm not blaming my problems on my parents or teachers. Everyone did the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time -- our parents simply pass on the low self esteem, and lack of confidence that was passed on to them.

I remember that my parents fought a lot. One memory especially stands out - my mother in the front yard, with rollers in her hair, holding a garbage bag, and shouting at my dad who was revving up his Mustang and blasting "Smoke On The Water". Sometimes I feel lucky to have avoided the mental hospital.

It's especially important to see and recognize low self esteem signs in children before they reach adulthood.  Read here how competition kills teenage self esteem.
